Louis The Child: Iconic Sets & Unforgettable Mixes

If you were to ask me to choose an artist that embodies the essence of “summer nostalgia,” I would immediately say Louis The Child. For many of us, the Chicago duo—Freddy Kennet and Robby Hauldren—was the spark that ignited our dance music eras. Their uplifting tracks have provided the soundtrack to countless idyllic summers, and their influential sound helped pioneer the fusion of pop and future bass. Here are some of Louis The Child’s most iconic sets and unforgettable mixes.

Let’s start by going back to 2015. Louis The Child are at the pinnacle of their popularity, and you start to hear them playing everywhere you go. Their lively, wavy bass is vibrant and colorful. It’s like you’re falling in love for the first time.

Louis The Child – Double Cross Set (Brownies & Lemonade 2015)

If you’ve been here since the beginning, you’ll remember this one. This set was Louis The Child’s Los Angeles debut at Brownies & Lemonade’s Double Cross in March of 2015. It is quintessential Louis The Child filled with throwback remixes like “Compass,” “Paris,” and “Body Gold.” Future bass in all its radiance. It’s crazy to think that this tracklist is almost a decade old, but I guess time really does fly when you’re having fun.

Louis The Child – Too Future Guest Mix 012 (2015)

This mix is uplifting and sentimental, taking you back to a simpler time when we were all a little more carefree. The transitions are smooth and effervescent, full of sparkling drops and grooves. This mix is like Louis The Child’s first big breath before they blew up and started to dominate the world of electronic dance music.

Louis The Child – Diplo & Friends Mix (2016)

With over 2.4 million plays, this mix propelled LTC to the next level. This was released right before their largest tour in 2016, which ultimately solidified their status and cemented their career. This mix stays bouncy from blasting their own hits to playing out Travis Scott, Two Feet, or Oh Wonder.

Louis The Child – EDC Las Vegas Set (2017)

Do you remember when you were in the summer of 2017? Because this was where I was. I remember experiencing so many emotions during this set, from becoming overwhelmed with gratitude to happy tears and remembering all of my friends hugging each other at the end – one of the most unforgettable sets I’ve experienced. If you haven’t had the chance to see Louis The Child live yet, please change that; it will change you.

Louis The Child – Live at Red Rocks (2019)

This set might forever be my favorite. It is a true atmospheric sound journey where Freddy and Robby get to tell their story and have a little fun too. Being in this crowd was like watching everything that led up to that moment in their career come together full circle. This set is euphoric, crazy, and fun—it’s LOUIS THE CHILD.

Louis The Child – Here For Now Tour – Live in Chicago (Friendsgiving 3 – 2019)

This incredible live performance from their annual Friendsgiving in Chicago is full of Louis The Child remixes, mashups, and VIPs—it’s also one of their most popular sets on SoundCloud. Before its official release, this set included several tracks from their classic debut album, Here For Now.

Louis The Child presents: Black Marble (Live at Burning Man 2022: Ego)

Full of IDs, they really kicked the dust up at Burning Man with this one. This set does a good job of capturing Louis The Child’s metamorphosis into Black Marble, aka their gritty, dark club persona. It proves how fluid and creative these two are. Louis The Child will forever be reinventing dance music when it comes to sets like this.

Louis The Child – Playground Radio #150 (Live Set From Navy Pier 2023)

This would not be a piece about LTC live sets without including one of their most legendary Playground Sets. Now and then the boys will play a “Playground Set,” which is a freestyle DJ set where they play anything and everything they want. This particular set was at Navy Pier last December, and it was their biggest hometown show to date. This mix has an incredible amount of energy and “summer nostalgia.”

I could talk about Louis The Child all day, but instead, I’ll just tell you to experience it for yourself. Louis The Child will be bringing their A Day In The Sun to Rawhide in Chandler, AZ this October 27th. Get more information and grab your tickets here. I’ll see you there!
