Artist Spotlight: SAID THE SKY – A Musical Journey coming to PHXLIGHTS!

As we count down the days to PHX LIGHTS this April 4th, one artist who’s absolutely not to be missed is SAID THE SKY. Hailing from Denver, Trevor Christensen (aka SAID THE SKY) has become a standout figure within the EDM scene, earning a reputation for his versatile production style that spans genres like dubstep, trap, tropical house, future bass, and even elements of pop-punk. His ability to seamlessly blend these influences creates a unique sonic experience that resonates deeply with fans, making his sets an unforgettable journey from start to finish.

SAID THE SKY’s live performances are where his artistry truly shines. It’s not just about the music; it’s about the immersive experience he creates. His sets are renowned for their intricate blend of lush, melodic soundscapes and high-energy drops, paired with stunning visual production that elevates the entire atmosphere. The visuals accompanying his performances, carefully crafted to sync with the music, are an integral part of the experience. From shifting color schemes to mind-bending projections, SAID THE SKY’s shows feel more like an all-encompassing, multi-sensory journey rather than just a typical DJ set.

The name SAID THE SKY itself carries a beautiful backstory. In his own words, Trevor reflects, “I was lying on the roof of a car, staring up at the sky and had a random thought: ‘What would it sound like if the sky made sounds?’ I just took that thought and ran with it, and it gave me a lot of direction at the time as an artist too.” That initial thought encapsulates the essence of his sound, a vast, emotionally resonant landscape that feels both ethereal and grounded. It’s this depth of vision that has propelled SAID THE SKY to where he is today, continually evolving and pushing boundaries within his genre.

Collaborations are another key element of his success. His work with Illenium on tracks like “Good Things Fall Apart” and “Sad Songs” has garnered millions of streams and solidified his place within the melodic dubstep scene. He has also teamed up with artists like Seven Lions and Gryffin, resulting in powerful, genre-blurring tracks that seamlessly combine elements of future bass, electro-pop, and melodic dubstep. These collaborations demonstrate not only his adaptability but his ability to elevate a track by weaving together multiple influences and creating something uniquely his own.

In addition to his main stage sets, SAID THE SKY has an alter ego ‘DAB THE SKY’ which is rooted in a heavier, more aggressive dubstep sound. This side of his artistry gives fans a different flavor, with hard-hitting bass and intense energy that stands in stark contrast to his more melodic work. Whether Arizona will see DAB THE SKY make an appearance at PHX LIGHTS is anyone’s guess, but it’s safe to say that his performance will be full of surprises.

For those who may have missed it, the last time SAID THE SKY performed in Arizona was in 2022, making his return to PHX LIGHTS even more exciting. Whether you’re drawn to his melodic anthems or the bass-driven, heart-pounding beats, SAID THE SKY’s sets promise to be a highlight at PHX LIGHTS. His unique blend of genres, emotional depth, and stunning live production will undoubtedly leave a lasting impression.
