Cyclops Kicks Off New EP With Surreal Masterpiece, ‘Womp World’

After a breakout year that put him on the map, fast-rising bass producer Cyclops is keeping the momentum alive and kicking off what’s set to be his biggest year yet. Riding the wave of immense praise for his electrifying sound and magnetic online presence, today he drops his highly-anticipated single, “WOMP WORLD,” a heavy-hitting anthem fans have been craving for months.

“WOMP WORLD” marks the dawn of a brand-new era for Cyclops, opening the gates to an immersive universe where sight and sound collide. This single launches a fresh chapter with a mind-bending EP, pulling fans into a whirlwind of eye-spy-inspired visuals and electrifying in-person installations – an experience that can only be fully unlocked at his live shows.

“WOMP WORLD” is a wonky, experimental bass anthem that’s already built serious hype through heavy teasing and high-energy live sets. The intricate drops and gritty bass stabs display Cyclops’ diverse production techniques, tapping into his signature wonky sound while pushing the boundaries of experimental bass music. The addictive, bass-face-ready rhythms keep listeners locked in as each layer unfolds with precision and intensity. This release marks the beginning of a brand-new era for the Cyclops project, with a fresh artistic direction, a shift toward more anthemic productions, and a massive fall tour on the horizon. “Womp World” opens on a dreamy and surreal note, as if we are entering the claymation world depicted on the single’s artwork. The artwork reminds me of something straight out of the Primus discography. Constellations of sound form over muted drum beats and pleasant sploinks. Crystalline synths give the track icy, chill undertones. Tropical drum fills and plampy kicks keep the beat marching.The Spolinks scatter and roll into the prebuild. Heavy drum beats accelerate before fading out.

“WELCOME TO MY WORLD!! Oh yeahh, well… JUST WAIT ‘TIL YOU HEAR IT!”

Thick bass waves and hard-hitting drums create a downtempo headbanging sensation in the listener. Throttling back and forth like a destructive cyborg. The screaming samples accent the track’s heavier elements, while the gorgeous synth bars keep the melody going. A heavy drum bridge brings us back around. Introducing the second drop.

This drop leans more in the sploinky direction, effortlessly bouncing sound waves off of the heavy backing beat. The sploinky tornado forms higher and higher around the 1:40 mark, increasing in range and intensity. With that, we are lead back to the chill, surreal introduction. The final drop is an extension of the first. Featuring more drawn-out variations of its vibe and sound, while keeping the plasmatic feel.

“Womp World” is an instant BOP and a perfect example of my chosen style of EDM. I love mid/downtempo wonkfests that feature atmospheric sound elements. Cyclops has expanded his range and production capabilities since I last saw him open at Sunbar a year or two ago. I cannot wait to hear the rest of the EP and hear this heavy-hitter LIVE.

“I think this is my best song yet. I took January off from touring to focus on writing new music and “WOMP WORLD” is by and large my favorite one. It’s extra special because it kicks off a new era for the Cyclops project. We’ll be debuting a new art style for 2025, more anthemic songs, way more press + PR coverage, and so much more.
