After closing out a massive headline tour selling out the biggest venues of his career, electronic powerhouse Ray Volpe delivers the highly anticipated bass heater, “GET SMACKED,” in collaboration with rising DJ and producer Vastive—a track the entire bass community has been waiting for.
“GET SMACKED” ushers in a new chapter for Ray Volpe, following his electrifying sold-out headline show at the Hollywood Palladium for the VOLPEVERSE Tour finale—where he officially unveiled his highly anticipated debut album, FOREVER, VOLPETRON, set to arrive this year. With searing guitar riffs igniting the track and the striking lyrics, ‘Move back, get smacked, are you ready?’ cutting through the chaos, the energy builds unrelentingly until it detonates into multiple face-melting dubstep drops, primed for headbanging, mosh pits, and all-out dance mayhem. Ray Volpe and Vastive blend their signature styles into a high-energy fusion of drops, drawing inspiration from metal, trap, and hip-hop. The result? A perfect powerhouse anthem perfectly crafted for the upcoming festival season ahead. “GET SMACKED” has already made waves with industry heavyweights like DJ SNAKE, who kicked off his THE OUTLAW set with it at Lost Lands last year. “GET SMACKED” begins on a high note with a tornado of guitar riffs, thumping basslines, and aggressive drum fills. Lighter clap effects balance out the heavy fills and riffs. Ray Volpe and Vastive quickly up the tempo and intensity. Ear-splitting bass and drums send the listener falling through a deep bass canyon, with lasers ping-ponging from either side. The lasers expand into distorted whirs and ectoplasmic whistles. The slow and menacing drum effects add to the intergalactic robot vibe of “GET SMACKED.” A VOLPE producer tag can be heard in between drop segments.

The first drop seamlessly transitions into a second pre-build. The guitar riffs are back, interwoven within the escalating beat. Rapid drums lead into the next drop.

The final section of “GET SMACKED” starts out with a blast beat, before taking on a melodic and dance-heavy vibe. Closing out with air raid sirens for good measure.

“’GET SMACKED’ really jumpstarts my debut album season into full swing. Working with Vastive felt very natural; we both have a love for metal music and interesting flows to bring into the heavy bass sector of the dance scene. There’s a lot of different inspirations and styles that complement each other as this song goes on, which it really does just keep going. There’s a lot of changes throughout, which I think is really nicely reflected on the album coming up as a whole – it’s not all just one specific sound. I couldn’t be more proud to kick things off with “GET SMACKED.” From the catchy repetitive vocal chant, to the live playability, to the little hip hop/trap section at the end. “Ray and I had been talking about collaborating for quite some time. Our tune was actually originally just a live plate I had written on tour a while back and he’d been playing it for months. Once the time came that we both had time to work together, it was a no brainer this was the one we wanted to develop. I can honestly say I had a TON of fun working with him on it. Between all the late nights and constant voice memos of ideas, it felt great to be writing with excitement. I couldn’t be any more stoked on the outcome.
