YetepLet me paint you a picture: it’s spring break in Miami. You and your crew accidentally didn’t leave the club until 6AM, but the boat deposit was non-refundable. So guess what? It’s boat day.
The sun is blinding, your energy is questionable at best, but morale is high because the water is glistening.
After what feels like a TED Talk on safety protocols, the captain finally says the magic words: “Who wants to connect to the Bluetooth?”
Your friends all turn to you. Breathe, you got this. You’ve done a lot more with a lot less. I’ll build you the playlist sandwich, but you’re in charge of the filler tracks.
Here’s what you do:
“Welcome to the People” by Jaded
Start strong. This track is the sonic equivalent of pouring your first tequila soda and realizing life isn’t so bad. It’s bouncy, sleek, and announces: let’s get weird today.
“Waiting For Love” by Avicii
Time for some emotional cardio. This is the singalong moment. The kind that one friend (you know the one) will mentally escape to during a 4PM breakdown at his lame job. Lunch is approaching, so get all the singing out now. Sydney brought turkey clubs for the group. Things are looking up.
“Somebody (2024)” by Gotye, FISHER, Chris Lake, Kimbra, Sante Sansone
Lunch is served. The sandwiches are making their rounds, and this track is pulsing at a casual 50% volume. It’s moody, funky, and perfect for a turkey club and good conversation. Vibes are skyrocketing. As you break bread and regain strength, it’s finally time to break down last night’s shenanigans.
“The Last Goodbye” by ODESZA, Bettye LaVette
Afternoon haze has set in. You’ve all been slow-roasted by the sun just enough to question time. The boat starts its slow return and this cinematic track sweeps in. People are going to stare longingly into the horizon. Let them. Dancing and head nods might go slow motion, but that’s fine.
“One Three Nine” by Zeds Dead, Scrufizzer
This is your final act. The marina is in sight. The group is sun-kissed, salt-wrapped, and dangerously weird.
If you play your cards right – A.K.A. press play on Zeds Dead – they’ve got one more left in them. This track builds with intent. Not a chaotic drop, but a steady one, like the perfect finale to a perfect day.
Everyone gives it their all one last time… and as the song ends, it’s silent. Not awkward silent – legendary silent. You’ll probably get a few thank-yous, play it cool. No big deal… but yeah, you crushed it.
Zeds Dead is bringing this exact boat-to-bassline energy to Rawhide on May 3. Lock in your crew, bring your boat day spirit, and meet us there. Turkey clubs not included.
