YetepAustralian DJ and producer SIPPY is a rising star who has been making waves in the international EDM scene, touring and performing in multiple countries, continents, and festivals. She is best known for her rabbit aesthetic, iconic stage outfits, and affectionate nickname for her and her fans: GREMLINS. Her signature look is present on the single’s cover art, as well as her pink/purple color scheme. Fuzzy glasses and all. Her personality and relatable social media presence have helped increase her reach, in addition to GENIUS marketing campaigns. Her stage performances are HYPE and feature her raging along with the crowd just as hard. Making every SIPPY set a memorable one.
“What’s a Gremlin?” gets going right out of the gate with a sick flow, hip hop drums, and a trembling bassline. Rainbow Road inspired spirals from under the surface of the beat and pulsating bass. Expanding into an inquisitive sample that leads into the first drop. The walls close in on all sides. Slowly opening back out to welcome in wobbles and laser-focused drums. The bass never loses its low end, even during the rap flow. An impressive feat!!! An ominous ticking builds anticipation for the next track section. The second drop is a wild switch up. Starting out with a sweep effect that expands into distorted waves of bass. The extended click effects appear once more. They are an amazing feat of sound design, demonstrating SIPPY’s impressive skills in (and out) of the studio.
“What’s a Gremlin?” embraces the controlled chaos of SIPPY and her loyal fanbase. The production also mirrors these themes, while the sampling choices are ON POINT, complementing the sound, track name, and fanbase title well. SIPPY’s production has become more specialized and nuanced than ever! This is representative of her expanding sound and skillset, likely a result of her rigorous production standards and tour schedule. SIPPY continues to push the boundaries of her sound design with stand out tracks like this one!
“Hit me with the bass down low. I like that rhythm flow.”
