YetepRaging rabbit producer SIPPY has made a grand return to DEADBEATS, dropping “Killa,” a collaboration featuring Bianca on vocals. “Killa” begins on a subtle note with vocal harmonies and glistening keys. Bianca’s vocals sway effortlessly with the melodic introduction, creating perfect synergy. Light drum taps are introduced, giving the verses additional rhythm.
Bianca breaks into the verses as the track progresses. Highlights from the verses include lines like:
“Look in her eyes gives you butterflies and stings you like a bee.” and “She’s a stunner. Make it move like Rihanna. Snap shots in the mirror, that girl is a Killa!”
Buzzing bass gradually rises, leading into a sweet drum build. The bass then takes on brief hum before crashing in from all sides. This leads into the first drop, where warbling wubs dance a sea of laser lights.
“BANG BANG BANG, THAT GIRL IS A KILLA!”
The song’s initial melody returns, along with Bianca’s soothing vocals. “Killa’s” second verse is descriptive and uses imagery effectively. The “Killa” is described as “fire on the freeway” and “living in the moment” as she travels to see a potential lover. An intricate drum pattern appears under the surface, increasing the tempo and anticipation for the drop. Quiet strings and squeaks radiate out from the drumbeat. Adding more layers of melody to the chorus. A sweep effect welcomes in the next drop. This drop reaches new heights, before crashing back down to a bassy low end. Substituting wubs for thick bass waves. Gorgeous piano notes close out this incredible collaboration on high note.
“Heading for the West Side, you’re the one thing on her mind.”
“Killa” is a well rounded track that is lyrically strong and features a perfect balance of melody and heaviness. Bianca’s vocals are a perfect match for the shifts in tone and emotion throughout the track. There are intricate details to be found with repeated listens, giving listeners a reason to come back for more again and again.
