Italian Hardcore Heater: ‘IL MIO PREDILLETO’ by Zoracowaro & skullstorm
I have been learning Italian since December, which has introduced me to a whole new culture. Music is an element of culture, so naturally I had to explore Italian music for myself. I started out with rock, rap, and R&B; but have been drawn to Italian EDM lately. My newest discovery is “IL MIO PREDILETTO” by Zoracowaro & skullstorm. The title translates to “My Favorite,” “My Darling,” or “My Beloved” depending on context. This title pleasantly contrasts with the Hardcore genre leanings of the track itself. I am relatively new to the Hardcore genre.. but this is DOPE!!
The vibes kick in IMMEDIATELY. A rhythmic chant brings in the beat. Fist pumping drums and bass effects rage on, joined by weaving synth. Layers of kicks and claps provide a foundation for the contorting bass walls. Never letting up on the intense tempo and drums. The tone drastically changes throughout, going from plampy bass wubs to euphoric digital scales. And everything in between.
The translated lyrics are included in a Youtube comment on the official lyric video. Some of my favorite highlights include:
“il mio amore è un proiettile di diamante, sparato dritto nel tuo petto” and “Voglio che la tua mediocrità diventi la mia ossessione, ti spoglio della tua timidezza da perdente e ti vesto di un’arroganza elettrica”
These lyrics respectively translate to:
“My love is a diamond bullet shot straight into your chest” and “I want your mediocrity to become my obsession. I’ll strip you of your loser shyness and dress you in electric arrogance”
The intense flow and tone of the vocals perfectly match the unrelenting Hardcore beat. The beauty of the Italian language also provides a unique contrast to the track, showing off the versatility of the language and producers. Check this one out for a great introduction to Italian Hardcore.
