LAYZ & AlienPark Craft Arcade Banger, ‘Ready’
LAYZ and AlienPark are two up and coming artists who lean towards the heavier side of dubstep. They ride the line with some riddim influences sprinkled in. “Ready” continues this trend and immerses the listener in a cybernetic arcade game. The SUBSIDIA released track starts out with a coin slot, a robotic voice, and a player selection menu. After this, a countdown begins.

Alarms ring out over tribal drums and expanding bass. The drums grow faster and more intense as the bass charges, shooting off into a riddim-fueled galaxy. The first drop perfectly meshes riddim with heavier dubstep wubs. Grinding bass and plampy drums rage on with a pleasant hint of lasers. “Ready” builds up again with a rapidly increasing drumbeat. The second drop hits even HARDER than the first. Menacing strings and bass waves morph into twisted frequencies. “Ready” then fades out like the conclusion of an alien transmission. Concluding with a coin slot sound effect and the famous internet crash noise. What a delightful twist!
“Ready” is a great listening experience and truly captures the nostalgia of arcade games, but with a vicious dubstep/riddim spin. LAYZ and AlienPark are INCREDIBLE on their own. Their combined talents help them stand out even further. This song is the perfect introduction to both artists and a great way to dip your toe into heavier dubstep and riddim.
