Piezo Drops Progressive Masterpiece, ‘Sky Burial’
I recently covered the eccentric Italian producer Piezo in my International Artist Discovery Series. His innovative production style and progressive song structures create an immersive experience for the listener. He is truly unlike any other producer that I have heard. Piezo’s newest drop is called “Sky Burial.” The cover art features a shrouded figure on a beige and red background. The clouded appearance of the cover art ties in well with the song’s title and aesthetic.
“Sky Burial” is a progressive track that features rippling synth, surreal vocals, and rattling basslines. Frequencies bend and twist beneath the psychedelic haze and heavy kick drums. Cymbals crash in between song sections as the song gradually builds. “Sky Burial” features elements that sound like intergalactic transmissions, water dripping from cave walls, and crystalline shatters. This blend of vibes come together to create a one-of-a-kind listening experience. The darker elements of the track contrast with the gorgeous vocals and surreal lyrics. This plays into the title of the song, which is a contradiction in and of itself. “Sky Burial” also features chimes and rising string sections. The kicks do not let up and give the song an undercurrent of techno, further expanding its darker side. “Sky Burial” is a great addition to the discography of one of my favorite hidden gems in EDM.
