ATALI Makes a SPLASH with New Drop, ‘MO MO’
ATALI recently came up on my radar through a SoundCloud recommendation. The track in question was his newest release, “MO MO.” This song features a very unique energy with vocals and instrumentals that catch you off guard. This song is a hype anthem and always gets me going.
“MO MO” begins with ethereal chants, tropical drums, and a demand for “our full cooperation right about now.” The drums grow heavier before transforming into soft kicks and claps. The vocals bust through the beat as the song intensifies. “Mo Mo’s” first drop is OUTSTANDING. It is a wubby adventure with ascending basslines, colorful synths and spirals. Spoinks and Strings give way to another sample, with the drum beats returning. This sample kicks in around the 1:45 mark and has some serious attitude. It features a confrontation between two individuals that ends with a transition into the next drop. The hype man brings things back. This drop has much more of a liquid feel than the previous ones. An early sign of ATALI’s production capabilities. “MO MO” ends with a mix of whistles and wubs. Closing out my introduction to ATALI.
This track is seriously awesome. It is my type of vibe and introduced me to a previously unknown producer. ATALI is making all the right moves and uses unpredictable sampling techniques to enhance his craft. He gave me an incredible first impression that is hard to achieve.
