CØNTRA Links with Chef Boyarbeatz for the Last Time in Heavy New Single, ‘No Worries if Not’

Chef Boyarbeatz and rising 140 heavyweight star, CØNTRA, are bringing some serious heat to Deep Dark & Dangerous with their latest collaboration, “No Worries If Not.” The new single wastes absolutely no time getting weird, opening with a tense, discordant guitar riff before dropping into a swampy groove packed with nasty deep bass. In this newest tune there is plenty of room for the subs to do some damage. It’s the kind of tune that feels built for a dark room and a sound system turned all the way up.

For CØNTRA, the collaboration is another step forward for an artist who has been quietly making some serious noise in the underground. His catalog already includes releases with Wraz., appearances on DUPLOC and previous work with Chef Boyarbeatz. While his 140-focused production continues to earn him spots alongside some of the scene’s most respected names, he continues to impress in the studio as well. Now back on DDD, CØNTRA is showing exactly why he’s one of the names to keep an eye on as the next wave of deep dubstep continues to take shape.

On the other side of the collaboration, Chef Boyarbeatz has spent years carving out his own lane with heavy breaks, UK-inspired soundscapes, and a production style that has earned support from artists including Of The Trees, Truth, and Noisia. His relationship with DDD runs especially deep, with his track “Steady Slurkin’” previously earning the #1 spot in a fan-voted dubstep poll on DUPLOC.

And while “No Worries If Not” is another standout addition to Chef’s catalog, it also marks the closing chapter of one era. Chef Boyarbeatz has announced that he is beginning a new project under a different name, making these final releases under the Chef moniker a sendoff to the identity that helped establish him throughout the underground bass scene. With the next chapter already taking shape, there’s plenty of reason to be curious about what comes next.

Playing his final ‘Chef Boyarbeatz’ set at Infrasound this year, he will continue to create and make even more impressive tunes. “No Worries If Not” finds two generations of 140 production meeting in the middle, with CØNTRA bringing his rising sound into the DDD world alongside one of the scene’s most distinctive producers in Chef Boyarbeatz. If the absurd second drop is any indication, this one is going to be causing some serious damage on the dance floor.
