Chase & Status worked hard and brought on amazing talent to create and shape Generic Everything into the album Chase & Status strived for it to be. Chase & Status feature artists from across the UK highlighting the amazing talent and music growing in the industry. Chase & Status also released a mega collab track with Skrillex in Generic Everything.
Chase & Status bring back staple artist IRAH, who has brought many fan favorite collab tracks with the duo. IRAH is featured on “Disgruntled” with J Hus and “Shutdown” with Col3trane, two high energy bangers that bring punchy rhythms, crisp beats, and fast rhymes. “Carnage” with Little Simz and “Timber” with Giggs are two heavy hitting rollers that bring a similar vibe with more knockout rhymes. “Tension” features singer Saam Sultan, together bringing a track the immerses breakbeat with rock influences.
Chase & Status flip the vibe in “Juggin” with rappers Blanco and Finesse Kid. “Juggin” is a deep dubstep track with low to the floor bass. Other tracks like “Influence” with rapper Ledbyher bring airy liquid melodies and “Gone Too Far” features singer Debbie’s ethereal vocals with atmospheric electric pop beats. Chase & Status bring an unexpected Brazilian funk fusion to their sound in “Levels” with rapper D Double E. Finally, “Essa Ta Quente” with Skrillex unleashes a track that mixes low basslines and breakbeats with a little Brazilian funk flare into the wavy electric beats. “Essa Ta Quente” translates to “this one is hot” which is a perfect representation of the track that Skrillex and Chase & Status created together.
Chase & Status stated this across their social media relating to the release of Generic Everything–
“This has probably been the most challenging album we’ve ever made. The world feels more uncertain than ever. The pace of change, the sheer volume of content and the rise of AI have made it a strange, exciting but also overwhelming time to be creating. Almost overnight, it feels like what it means to be a musician or an artist has shifted.
Coming from the DnB scene, new technology has always been part of what we do. We’re excited by where it’s going and the opportunities it opens up for more people to create. But it also feels easier than ever to fall into repetition, to reach for something predictable.
The name Generic Everythig is not a critique on music or art in general but a personal reminder to us to think differently, keep pushing our sound and to resist some of the easier options, however tempting. Maybe this is true for all artists. Now more than ever.
Hope you find some bangers on the album! And come and mosh out at a show with us soon.
Will and Saul.”
Generic Everything is a beautifully produced album that shows Chase & Status’ devotion to music, commitment to continuously elevate their sound, and genuine care for showcasing growing talent. The album compiles music that only artists like Chase & Status and everyone featured on this album could create. Generic Everything is yet another album released by the DJ duo that contains pure heat and showcases why these two will forever be legends not only in the DNB scene but to music as a whole.
