Fiendish Flips Volume 1: A New Realm

FRI, OCT 2, 2026

There are a variety of music streaming platforms out there with their own individual benefits. Spotify has serious institutional backing and a thriving social network. Apple Music has brand recognition and some pretty big exclusives. However, the streaming platform SoundCloud is where the REAL treasures are hidden. SoundCloud features many of the same songs as both streaming platforms, but also contains a vast underground network of singles, remixes, and flips. Exclusive DJ sets and mixes from festivals and their own private collections can be found everywhere. SoundCloud is the most direct line between producers and listeners that exists. This creates a virtually endless sea of discoveries, making it the most interesting platform of the three. The following article will introduce a new series in which I discuss flips that go ESPECIALLY hard.

“Kesha – Take It Off (Alleycvt Flip)”

This OUTSTANDING Kesha flip by Alleycvt caught me off guard and is the direct inspiration for this new series. Alleycvt adds some serious wubbage to this party anthem. Taking it from a dance party to a rail-busting headbanging session. The tempo and bass are upped significantly, creating a wall of sound that fully envelops the listener. The track features chunky bass drops and ear-shattering wubs. Alleycvt does an excellent job capturing the spirit of the original, while also expanding on it’s sound and themes.

“Silverstein – My Heroine (SubDocta x Evalution Flip)“

SubDocta and Evalution put an unlikely spin on this Emo classic by Canadian band Silverstein. The track begins with the bold statement that “I am emo as f**k. You are emo as f**k. We are all emo as f**k”; as the familiar guitar riff gracefully rolls in. We are off to a STRONG start with this one FOR SURE.

The first chorus is joined by HEAVY drums, claps and whooshing basslines. The riff can still be heard under the elements as the first drop builds. The drop starts out subtly, teasing the listener a little. It ramps up again with choppy wubs and rock-like drums. This track is very progressive in nature. Choosing to gradually unroll the drops over several track sections. Effortlessly switching between melodic verses and heavy-hitting choruses. The most intense drop occurs around the two and a half minute mark. Closing out this epic flip on a high note.

It is DEFINITELY not a phase, mom.

“Let’s Get It Started (Levity x Crankdat remix)”

The third and final flip that I will be covering is a flip of Let’s Get It Stated (Black Eyed Peas) by Levity and Crankdat. This dynamic flip fires on all cylinders. Fergie’s classic incredible vocals start things off before the verses kick in. The beat gradually builds underneath with beautiful strings and synth. The song keeps its funky side while introducing some wubs. Reminiscent of disco.

The first drop hits HARD with a laser-like vibe. This wild drop fades out, briefly introducing some flute before wubbing out again. The rap verses keep up with the evolving beat and drops. Speaking of which, the second drop takes on a pleasant groove, drastically shifting the vibes. This lighter drop demonstrates the advanced production techniques of its collaborators. Producer tags are introduced in the build up to the final drop. A balance of heaviness, groove, and melody. A blend of the previous drop sounds. This flip fades out with some unique sound design and subsiding vocals.

This one is a heater FOR SURE!

These are all prime examples of the treasures that await you on SoundCloud. A lot of popular songs have been flipped by DJs, so there is plenty to look for. Some tracks have dozens of flips, a true testament to their popularity. Be on the look out and surprise your friends the next time you grab the AUX.
