Broken Hill operates at the intersection of club grit and technical precision. The moniker pays homage to his family’s roots in the Australian outback. Born and raised in Los Angeles, his signature sound reflects both heritage and environment – pulling from house, indie dance, and nu disco – resulting in records that land in the moment, but hold up over time.
A student of the dancefloor first, his approach comes from being in it. Early exposure to electronic music through his father turned into a real connection to the culture, long before the studio became part of the picture. That eventually grew into a full-time path as both a producer and engineer, working in and out of studios in San Diego and Los Angeles. There’s a certain tension in his sound: precise but never stiff, loose but never messy. It carries a digital edge with an apt foundation in analog composition. Everything is built from inside the culture, meant to translate where it actually matters.
That approach has started to travel. His Beatport #1 indie dance record, “Goat” on Abracadabra Records, marked a breakout moment, alongside releases on Diynamic, Blackbook Records, and Maccabi House. With shows across North America, South America, and Europe, Broken Hill is steadily building something global – bringing that same balance of instinct and precision to every room he plays.
