Brooklyn Army Terminal (BAT) is a massive historic complex in the Sunset Park neighborhood of Brooklyn, originally built in 1918-1919 as a military supply base during World War I and II. Today, it is owned and managed by the New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYC EDC) and serves as a hub for over 100 industrial/creative businesses (manufacturing, technology, food production, creative studios). The complex spans 97 acres and 4 million sq ft of space including two main warehouse buildings (Buildings A and B), a large outdoor plaza, and a 1,200-foot waterfront esplanade with views of the Statue of Liberty and Upper New York Bay. It hosts large-scale public events (concert/music festivals, flea markets, food events, corporate events) in its outdoor atrium, plaza, and interior spaces, and is a popular EDM/festival event site (e.g. Elements Festival, Pioneer Works Sound Art events).
The site’s waterfront esplanade/plaza is open to the public during business hours; large ticketed events (e.g. EDM festivals) will have event-specific security, bag, and re-entry policies published by their individual promoters
Very limited parking in the immediate area; street parking on 58th Street and surrounding blocks (metered); nearby paid lots exist in the broader Sunset Park area.
N/R/W subway trains to 59th Street, then a 10-minute walk; B37 bus stops on 2nd Avenue near the main entrance; B35 and B70 buses also run nearby; Brooklyn Citi Bike docking station approx. 800 feet away
