Gentle Ben’s is a Tucson landmark restaurant, brewpub, and nightclub, on this block since 1971 and brewing award-winning beers since 1991, located steps from the University of Arizona campus on University Blvd. The original house was located under what is now the lobby of the Marriott Hotel; the building itself was built in 1908 as a private residence for the Hamilton family, later serving as the university president’s house, a boarding house, and home to several fraternities over the years. By day it’s a casual dining restaurant with covered patio and side patio (added more recently, popular for watching Arizona Wildcats games); by night it transforms into a leading nightclub for late-night hours, hosting monthly DJ events, line-dancing nights, and themed weekly specials, plus VIP bottle service.
The primary indoor performance area features high-impact lighting fixtures, a main DJ control booth, a full service bar, and open dance floor space flanked by VIP seating sections.
An open-air outdoor patio and elevated upper deck area with its own full-service bar, relaxed lounge seating, and dedicated DJ setup overlooking the University Boulevard district.
