Marquee Theatre is a premier independent live music venue in Tempe, AZ, originally opened in January 1993 as the Red River Opry (a country music venue). After bankruptcy and closure in 2001, the venue was purchased by Nobody In Particular Presents in 2002, renovated, and reopened as Marquee Theatre in March 2003. Lucky Man Concerts (owner Tom LaPenna) has owned and operated it since March 2004. Located at the intersection of Mill Avenue and Washington Street on the north side of Tempe Town Lake (next to the Mill Avenue Bridge), it is an institution in the Valley’s live music scene, hosting rock, metal, hip-hop, EDM, and electronic acts in a festival-seating format with a balcony, large bar areas, and an intimate back-of-house just 80 feet from the stage. The venue also includes a dedicated 18-and-over section to accommodate underage fans alongside drinking-age attendees.
