Randall’s Island

Randall’s Island Park is a large public park in the East River between East Harlem (Manhattan), the South Bronx, and Astoria (Queens), opened in 1936 by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt alongside the new Triborough Bridge. Managed by the Randall’s Island Park Alliance (RIPA, a public-private partnership with NYC Parks, founded 1992), it features Icahn Stadium (a 5,000-seat track & field and multipurpose facility opened 2005), 60+ athletic fields, a tennis facility (Sportime/John McEnroe Tennis Academy), waterfront pathways, an Urban Farm, golf facilities, and natural areas/wetlands. It hosts major outdoor concerts and festivals (e.g. Zedd In The Park, Electric Zoo-adjacent events) in addition to sports and community programming.
