Claude VonStroke announces “Urban Animal” Tour

Contemporary urban life can be suffocating. Within the many subcultures and social strata, the Urban Animal searches for release. Not in the vast, unpopulated great outdoors, but in heaving warehouses, seeking solace in the liberating beats of the kick drum.

dirtybird pioneer Claude VonStroke unleashes his “Urban Animal” upon North America this September. This, his third artist album is set to be released on September 24. He will also be headed on tour in support of this new release. Throughout the tour VonStroke will be supported the fast rising dirtybird Player J.Phlip.

Those who have caught VonStroke over the summer; hosting his own stage at HARD, subverting the EDM complacency of Las Vegas during EDC week, or maybe at the dirtybird Ibiza residency at Sankey’s, have heard powerful glimpses of “Urban Animal.” The tour is to be a gathering of like-minded escapists, a dancefloor menagerie brought together by its thirst to push through the platitudes of everyday existence.

After releasing the single “Can’t Wait” last week, VonStroke also unveiled the first glimpse of “Dood.” “Dood” is inherently dirtybird, and already proved its worth as the peak time choice for its creator. The heart-squeezing booty bass line smacks instantly, while the rumbling drawl of the vocal sample perfectly encapsulates VonStroke’s witty spirit.

“Urban Animal” embodies the singular sound that Claude VonStroke and his dirtybird crew have perfected over the last nine years. Touching on all spectrums of house, moving from booty bass to drum and bass, “Urban Animal” is rich and diverse, stoic and playful, tough and tender. VonStroke has pieced together a rugged arrangement of the most discordant, unlikely parts, into something brimming with beauty and human appeal. It’s a record wide in scope, yet one that could only have been birthed by VonStroke.

Out of these fractured snapshots of urbanity emerges a cohesive organic whole, it’s a fitting theme for VonStroke who sampled sounds and snippets of his busy and sometimes frantic work and family life to create his “Urban Animal.”
