RB Weekend Preview: You’ve Got Nothing Toulouse

This weekend is HUGE! As the summer reaches it’s end, although not over quite yet, we are prefacing our gigantic festival season this year with a very special appearance by the one and only Nicky Romero this Saturday at the Talking Stick Pool for the Release Pool Party. Opening for Nicky Romero is someone who was here just a couple of weeks ago. If you missed Helena, fear not, she is returning to open up for the Dutch house all-star. In addition, we bring you Jameston Thieves who are from right here in our own backyard, as well as California native, SNBRN, who will be playing a free show this Sunday. Let’s dive right into this storm of a weekend!

Dig a Little Deeper with Jameston Thieves at Urbane Manner (8/14   9pm)

From right here in Tempe, AZ, Jameston Thieves brings their “unique experimental synthesis and punchy in your face percussion” to Urbane Manner in Old Town Scottsdale. The duo of George Bafaloukos and Jake Maloney have created remixes of heavy-hitters such as Mija, Jack U, Evol Intent, and Gent & Jawns, as well as many of their own original twerk-worthy and glitched tracks. After releasing a slew of remixes, the duo is set to drop a new original track at some point today so keep an eye peeled on social media and Soundcloud! Get Your Feet Off the Ground for Nicky Romero and Helena at Release Pool Party (8/15   11am)

As a little sample for whats to come this festival season with Relentless Beats, we bring you the Dutch extraordinaire and #8 DJ in the world, Nicky Romero. Playing some of the biggest music festivals in the entire world including Ultra Music Festival, Tomorrowland, EDC, as well as being among some of the largest club headliners in the game playing at the likes of Amnesia in Ibiza, Omnia in Las Vegas, and Mansion in Miami, and being the owner of his own remarkably successful label, Protocol Recordings, there is no denying that Nicky Romero holds a spot amongst the best in the business. As a part of his campaign to remain in the top 10 DJs in the world, Nicky has recently released a brand new Romero-fied video game for fans which includes access to a special 8-bit remix of “Toulouse” for anyone who completes the game, and it can be played here. Last month Nicky released his newest original track entitled “Lighthouse”. The track incorporates pop vocals over an acoustic sounding guitar intro, which later blends into a classic progressive riff and an awe-inspiring bass drop that evokes a sense of unity. Don’t Forget Your Sunscreen for SNBRN at Release Pool Party (8/16   11am)

After the massive day at Talking Stick Resort, come on back the morning after because we are treating you all to a free show with LA/San Diego-native, Kevin Chapman, better known as SNBRN! Having started by DJing with his given name in the club scenes of Los Angeles and San Diego, Chapman developed his sound with the idea of blending deep house, indie , and nu disco together while creating music that remained accessible to the general audience. Eventually this sound developed into what would become the staple noise of his DJ/Producer project entitled SNBRN. The first track released under this new moniker was the track with vocalist Kerli entitled “Raindrops”. The very aptly titled track, which would serve as the perfect contrast to his name, reached #12 on the iTunes dance chart, quite the accomplishment for a freshman track, and also went on to achieve the #25 spot on Billboards Dance charts. This bright producer has quite the career ahead of him and you’re not going to want to miss out on his summer vibes to close out the weekend. Everyone wants a little “California” in their life, don’t they?
