Australian bred DJ Helena Legend, now based out of Los Angeles, has been making waves with her catchy club-ready tunes. She’s taken her classical music background and transformed into a world-class producer who’s breaking bounds. Just a couple months ago she released Part 1 of her No Explanations EP that was met with much praise and her recent music video for “RU Feeling It” has got people talking, too. This week she released the highly anticipated No Explanations Part 2. When asked to describe Part 2 of the EP in a recent interview she had this to say:
Part 2 is a bit more upbeat. One of the tracks is called “Ghost Ya”. It’s a sassy, kind of fun track about guys being too clingy. If you’re too clingy, I’m going to cut you off and ‘ghost ya’. There’s another track on the EP called “Don’t Ya Love Me” which samples Dawn Penn’s “No, No, No” and is a trap, bass reboot of that track. And a more Dancehall inspired beat called ‘One Night’ Feat a girl from Miami called Sade Serena. Part 2 has slightly different vibes from Part 1, but it all ties back to my sound and what I love.
Part 2 of No Explanations only serves to reinforce Helena Legend’s message: she has stepped outside of her musical comfort zone into an empowered maturity that will carry her further and wider than she has ever gone before. The 3 energetic tracks read as female power anthems that feature futuristic melodies, rhythmic basslines and sultry vocals.

In addition to touring with Kennedy Jones and all the recent releases, Helena Legend has been working hard on her new clothing line, ‘Helena’. She says she’s always had a passion for fashion. Legend actually studied fashion design in college but put it on hold to pursue music, her other love. She says she’s making clothes based on her experiences behind the booth, traveling and going out. She uses bright, reflective colors that catch the lights of the club and on the street. It should be launching in the middle of this year.
She also notes, “I have an upcoming single. It’s called “Dose Of You” featuring Kirstin Maldonado from Pentatonix. I’m just trying to perfect it at the moment. It’s really hard to let it go, but hopefully, that should be coming out after the EP.” There a lot of things to look forward to in 2017.
Helena will definitely go down as a ‘legend’ within this industry. Helena Legend joins a huge Phoenix Lights lineup on Sunday, April 9th. Get tickets here.
