RBDeep In the Mix: Metrik @ The Electrik Playground

This week’s RBDeep In the Mix is something different and exciting. We go hard into Drum n Bass this week with the talented producer Metrik. The London based producer is known to impress crowds across the world with his peaktime dance floor tunes. 2015 was an explosive year for Metrik as he took on the biggest tour in his life across North America, flying the flag for Drum n Bass at some of the largest music festivals in the world including EDC, Pukkelpop, and Let It Roll. Around this time last year, he was invited to play a mix for the Andi Durrant show at the Electrik Playground on Kiss, and he wanted to focus this mix on the melodic Summer vibes to prepare his fans for his tour and festival season. Check out this mix by Metrik and prepare your body for this festival season.

This mix was picked for this week’s RBDeep In the Mix for Metrik’s track selection. It started out with groovy tracks from Urbandawn, and Culture Shock, and to give the fans something nostalgic to think about, he dropped the melodic summer vibe of Porter Robinson‘s Sad Machine as the main lead over the signature DnB kick drum pattern. This remix of Sad Machine was made by the Australian DnB duo Ekko & Sidetrack. Metrik continued to alternate between the hard and chill vibe while maintaining the usual DnB beats at 160 bmp. A few examples of tracks from the chill side of the chill/hard spectrum are Wildfire by Bensley, In The Air by Hamilton, the Delta Heavy’s bootleg of Zhu’s Faded, and Metrik’s collabaration with Friction called Timelapse. The track selection for this mix was on point for what Metrik was focusing on and it definitely helped prepare his fans for festival season.

For the Hardstyle and Drum n Bass fans in the valley, Metrik will be at Dirty Disco this year on May 21 at Rawhide. Can’t wait to hear what he has in store for this year.
