The Relentless Beat of the Week: Dark Mark – “Take Shelter”

FRI, JUL 1, 2016

For this week’s Relentless Beats of the Week we have chosen to highlight one of our very own. Mark Tomlinson, better known as Dark Mark, has released his first official track entitled “Take Shelter,” a piercing track complimented by a heavy bass line and a sample from the film Take Shelter evoking a sense of madness within the listener. The energy is incessant as the track refuses to let up, suffocating our senses to the point where the only solution is to rock out to its relentless rhythm. In other words, what better track to highlight as this weeks beat of the week?

Dark Mark got his start in the dark dance scene of Downtown Phoenix, spinning industrial tracks at events like Club DWNTWN’s HÄXAN and Club Palazzo burlesque shows. Preferring to step more into the EDM community, Tomlinson decided to take a stab at RB’s Global 15 Minutes of Fame DJ competition in November 2015 where he achieved a place in the contests top 5 DJs. Although won by GoodTimeMiller, Dark Mark still received a spot on the Global Dance Festival – Wild West Edition lineup, playing stage 3. Since, Dark Mark has been making rounds on the local scene playing shows such as Phoenix Lights and an opening spot b2b with Mike Dao for the Black Tiger Sex Machine show at Monarch Theatre.

Having stepped out of the dark dance scene and into the EDM spotlight, Dark Mark promises much and more is still coming your way. With 2 more brand new tracks in the works and another show to add to his repertoire this weekend as he opens for LUMBERJVCK and Trollphace on Saturday, this is definitely a producer to keep tabs on.
