From The Van Buren to Decadence NYE: A Look Back at BTSM’s Arizona Eras

FRI, SEP 11, 2026

Black Tiger Sex Machine has been a fixture in Arizona’s electronic music scene for nearly a decade. From early festival appearances to intimate club shows and now a massive outdoor production, the Montreal trio’s journey through the Grand Canyon State tells a story of relentless growth.

The relationship began in 2016 when BTSM brought their heavy, industrial sound to the Mothership Stage at Phoenix Lights. That performance introduced Arizona to the Church of BTSM. The trio returned the following year to headline Crush Arizona at Rawhide Western Town, a testament to how quickly they became a draw in the market.

As the years went on, BTSM became a regular presence at Relentless Beats events. They played Decadence Arizona multiple times, delivering their signature electrifying sets to New Year’s Eve crowds. In 2020, they brought their immersive live show to The Van Buren for an unforgettable club night. The venue’s intimate atmosphere allowed for a closer connection with the Church than the massive festival stages. Then came the Live and Unmasked pool party at Talking Stick, a unique departure from their usual masked performances that gave fans a different kind of experience.
