YetepLightning strikes every time Calvin Harris moves. Everybody’s watching him, but he’s looking at…the two new silver astronauts sitting pretty on his shelf.
With Taylor Swift internally screaming in agony, our man Cal bagged the awards for “Best Male Video” and “Best Electronic Video” at the 2016 VMAs on Sunday night. Additionally nominated for “Best Summer Song” and “Best Collaboration,” it was a monumental night for the Scottish DJ.
Released June 16, 2016, the ‘This is What You Came For,’ video featuring Rihanna (and allegedly written by Swift?), prevailed over heavy hitters like Kanye’s ‘Famous’ video and Drake’s ‘Hotline Bling’ vid.
The comparatively simple video focuses on the flawless Rihanna, who won the prestigious Vanguard award, with a background of flashing neon lights and changing scenes that were secondary to RiRi’s mesmerizing presence.

Beating out the Chainsmokers’ ‘Don’t Let Me Down,’ AfroJack’s ‘SummerThing!’ and Mike Posner’s ‘I Took A Pill In Ibiza,’ Harris dominated the “Best Electronic Video” category with the viral ‘How Deep Is Your Love’ music video.
The video, released last August, zeros in on the sexy Gigi Hadid who wakes up on a surgical table and was transported through multiple scenes including a boat party and a house party. Mainly in slow motion, the intricate filming and editing makes this video the clear victor.

Unfortunately, Calvin couldn’t be there in person to accept his awards. Fortunately for the ravers of Daresbury, he was there performing as part of Creamfields, a festival that took place this past weekend in the UK.
Harris blasted an acceptance speech via video while in a studio holding the silver astronaut. He humbly thanked Rihanna (no mention of Taylor, though), and Emil Nava, who directed both of the award-winning music videos.

How deep is our love…for Calvin’s brilliant music videos? It’s safe to say it can’t go deeper.
