YetepGanja White Night is an electronic music group based in Belgium consisting of Erwan Charlie Dodson and Benjamin Bamby, and their sound is just as spectacular as their name. They started off as a trio with third member François Volral who left in 2012, but that didn’t stop Erwan and Charlie from crafting music that’s one of a kind, with one of the most unique approaches to em I have ever heard.
After experimenting with hip-hop and drum n bass, Ganja White Night grew inspired by dubstep, when they began creating ‘bass wobbling’ while staying away from the cliches of that genre specifically. Their sound is one that is hard to put into words, with a crazy style of organic dubstep influenced music. They focus on a dialogue between bass and mighty melodic lines resulting in a deep psydub sound that’s perfect for all of you who like your music a little weird in a good way.
The duo has traveled around the globe doing performances, and have evolved greatly along the way. Their sound design is often looked at as the “original sounds of dubstep,” of course with a twist, and their recognizable wonky and wobbly sounds always get a crowd moving.
Recently, GWN has branched out from being exclusively “dubstep” and “bass-music,” and has started to incorporate hip-hop and live performances into their sets. They implement machines, laptops, midi master keyboards, all kinds of regulators, samplers, sequencers, processing effects and ipads into their live performances.
Ganja White Night only recently started booking shows in the US, so it is an honor to have them joining us at Phoenix Lights coming up in April of 2017. Part of an extremely diverse lineup, GWN is the perfect addition for those of you looking to try something new, or all you dub lovers out there.
