Introducing: Phoenix Lights First Encounters DJ Competition

Over the last three years, Phoenix Lights Festival has grown immensely and one of it’s new attributes for 2017 is a first encounters DJ competition. Contestants will be competing for an opening slot at the festival warming up the decks for names such as Alesso, Above and Beyond and Zeds Dead.

The competition will be taking place on March 9th at the Monarch Theatre and will only welcome dj’s who have not played any 2016 Relentless Beats show as support to a headliner, hence the title “First Encounters”.

Contestants are required to simply record a demo set and upload to their SoundCloud or MixCloud account. The set needs to be at least 30 minutes long and feature their style of music. In other words, don’t submit a trance set and play dubstep during your performance. 10 applicants will be selected by the Relentless Beats team to compete on March 9th, along with 2 Wild Cards to fill any no-shows.

The submissions are due by 11:59 pm on February 20th, so if you think you’ve got a chance to make your first encounter, get to work! More guidelines and information can be found here.
