Yetepin July of 2016, Zeds Dead premiered their collaboration with Diplo and Elliphant, “Blame” ahead of their Northern Lights album. The single was immediately cherished by fans, and well as the album that followed in October that also features NGHTMRE, Pusha T, Twin Shadow and GG Magree to name a few.
Over the past few weeks, Hooks and DC of Zeds Dead have been teasing and hinting at a slew of remixes on their way for “Blame.” They even shared that the artists tweaking the tune were their buddy they brought on tour, Nebbra, tech house gods, Gorgon City, new dubstep artist Michael Sparks, four man dubstep legends, Dirtyphnics, and some ‘drip-hop’ from Champagne Drip.
Each remix is different taking the song in lots of new directions. Although Dirtyphonics and Michael sparks both produce dubstep, Dirtyphonics take a more upbeat route with a drop that spunds like two drops in one, and Michael Sparks remix is more diverse with wobbly dubstep elements.
Gorgon City’s remix has a hook with a dark, tech-house vibe, and Elliphant’s vocals come off a bit more coy. Champagne Drip creates what he calls ‘drip-hop’ and his remix is one of a kind with a slowed down tempo and airy dub synths. Nebbra, who just got done touring with ZD delivers a remix showcasing his originality with an upbeat techno house vibe.
These remixes are all just, too hot to handle.
