YetepYou may have seen his name on a festival lineup recently. Or maybe you heard his recent bass monster of a collab, “Rebels,” with Black Tiger Sex Machine. His name is Kai Wachi and he’s this week’s DJ to Watch.
Based out of Boise, Idaho, the 23-year-old dubstep and trap producer has been dropping bangers on us since his first release back in June 2012. He’s mashed genres and crossed boundaries, all while receiving support from some big-name artists like Excision and Bassnectar. 2016 was especially successful for Kai Washi, with the release of his popular single, “Ri$e,” and his four-track EP, $kull Team, followed up with “DEMONS” – all immediate fan favorites.
For fans of BTSM or Snails, Kai Wachi’s grimy bass sound is right up your alley. The artist seems to do quite a bit with BTSM actually. He supported them last year on their Music is Our Religion Tour, a 27-date trek across the U.S. and then on their Midnight Terror Tour in Fall 2017. Their similar styles make for an epic show.
Kai Wachi has a bright future ahead of him, and we can’t wait to see what’s to come. In the meantime, you can catch him for an installment of UK Thursdays at the Monarch Theatre on April 19. Get your tickets here.
