Relentless Beats

Artist Spotlight: Blunts & Blondes

If you don’t know Blunts & Blondes yet, you’re about to have your mind blown. This talented young bass producer is about to take the world by storm. Born in Tampa, Florida, Michael Guard learned to make music in his friends’ living room and by the age of 19, he was playing local events. It wasn’t long until he started turning heads and booked his first residency at the Ritz in Florida (formally known as The Amphitheater). Since then, the DJ/producer has graced the stages of festivals like Life in Color, Okeechobee, Das Energi, Lost Lands, Bass Canyon, Goldrush, and more. He’s even headlined his own North American tour, all before the age of 25.

Guard strives for originality in his production and it shows, as he draws his influences from hip-hop, reggae, and old school dubstep, resulting in a unique blend that can only be characterized as his own. He joined the Deadbeats label a few years back, and his remix of Zeds Dead’s “Lift You Up” has become a crowd favorite, even among Zeds Dead sets.

He’s collaborated with the likes of Bear Grillz, Wiz Khalifa, Bandlez, and often looks outside the EDM genre to remix tracks like Rebelution’s “Safe and Sound,” a perfect combination of reggae and wonky dubstep.

Guard’s live performances are an all-out fun experience. His energy is palpable, and he’s been known to share a blunt or two during his live sets. He will be heading to Sunbar in Tempe on May 1st. Tickets are currently sold out, but you can join the waitlist here!
