YetepIf there’s any one producer who has a direct line to my soul, it’s John Summit. With each new release, he gets better and better and I can’t help but vibe to everything he puts out. He started gaining notoriety in 2020, receiving support from top dogs like Pete Tong and Fatboy Slim, and he was just named one of Dancing Astronaut’s Artist to Watch in 2021.
So if you’re unfamiliar with John Summit or just don’t know where to start, read on for five top tracks to get you going…
If you’ve heard anything by John Summit, it’s probably this one. Originally a self-release, “Deep End” quickly gained the attention of several major labels, and John ultimately signed with Defected Records to officially release the track last year.
Released back in January, this tech house track features a perfect blend of dreamy vocals atop synths and a grooving bass line. Summit had been working on this one for a while throughout quarantine, and we were lucky enough to preview it during his live streams prior to its official release.
This Jax Jones track was already on its way to becoming a global hit and then Summit came along and gave it a tech house spin, resulting in one of my favorite remixes of his to date.
This one’s got serious GROOVY vibes. Released in October of last year, “Thin Line” is a collaboration with Guz, who is no stranger to the funkier side of production.
Released just a couple months ago, “Make Me Feel” arrived just in time for the return of live, in-person music. This track was made for the dance floor and we can’t wait to finally hear it live.
You have two opportunities to see John Summit live this weekend – first at Sunbar on Saturday night and again at Shady Park for a Treehouse Sunday event. Tickets have sold out fast, but you can still join the waitlist!
