Remix Recall: Best of MK

Kicking off our very first Remix Recall of 2024 is the legendary multi-platinum Detroit house legend and remix champion, Marc Kinchen (aka MK)! Recognized for his inventiveness and persistent passion, MK boasts one of the largest discographies in dance music, featuring over 500 tracks that will all undoubtedly have you grooving.

You probably know him for his hit single “17” or his award-winning collaboration, “Rhyme Dust” with Dom Dolla! Ahead of his tour stop at Sunbar in Tempe this weekend, we wanted to share a few more tracks that MK has helped turn into gold. Check them out below:

“Look Right Through” – Storm Queen (MK Remix)

Naturally, I had to start us off with a classic MK spin. This remix has been considered an Ibiza anthem for over a decade now, with over 29 million views on YouTube alone! This deep house remix is sure to uplift you with its potent nostalgia. The music video is pretty interesting too; you can check it out here.

“Say A Prayer for Me” – RÜFÜS DU SOL (MK Remix)

Ethereal and introspective, this record is distinguished by exquisite layering and stunning vocals. MK maintains the soothing, hypnotic groove remaining true to RÜFÜS’ effervescent sound.

“Sex & The City” – HoneyLuv & Seth Troxler (MK Remix)

Groovy goodness, this remix already has its very own Remix Recall! MK’s distinctive combination of deep basslines, catchy beats, and soulful vocals is the reason MK is a global pioneer.

“Electricity” – Silk City, Dua Lipa, Mark Ronson, & Diplo (MK Remix)

Piano house king! MK has the incredible skill to establish the mood of any record within the first few beats. He gives “Electricity” a 1990s dance feel, which makes it a stand out. Clever and timeless.

“West Coast” – Lana Del Rey (MK Remix)

Disco Lana? Yes, please. A lively, contagious house rhythm that features Lana’s untouched, flawless vocals as the main attraction. This is what we call, MK magic! Such an underrated remix.

“I Need a Painkiller” – Armand Van Helden, Butter Rush (MK Remix)

This is a sound design classic, full of energy and that signature MK flair. This song is unequivocal evidence that MK has contributed significantly to some of the most danceable tracks in the industry. Sets the dance floor on fire every time.

“Feel” – Riotron (MK Remix)

This Coachella ID stays true to Riotron’s original, sounding dark and melancholic with a booming bass line and MK’s distinctive house vibe. It undoubtedly transports you into an uncharted territory full of emotion.

“On My Mind” – Ellie Goulding (MK Remix)

MK creates a catchy blend of mellow percussion strikes, piano melodies, and a funky bass line to support and accentuate Ellie’s vocals to the fullest. The breakdowns and BMP switch-ups are perfection.

There’s a reason why MK is one of the most well-known names in the music industry. Over the past three decades, he has dominated the dance music scene and gained a sizable international following with his contagious singles and creative remixes.
