Remix Recall: Armand van Helden – ‘I Want Your Soul’ (Mau P Remix)

In March, the legendary Armand van Helden released his official remix of Mau P’s breakthrough hit “Drugs From Amsterdam.” Now, the illustrious Dutch DJ and producer Mau P has returned the favor! This week’s Remix Recall is all about Mau P and his stunning remix of Armand van Helden’s track “I Want Your Soul.” The remix is delivered via Southern Fried Records and is the first official remix of the track in nearly a decade. 

Since the release of his debut track, “Drugs From Amsterdam,” Mau P has quickly become one of the most sought-after artists in the house music scene. It comes as no surprise that Armand van Helden would commission him for an official remix. Mau P has had a rapid ascent, selling out his first US tour, winning two EDMAs, and performing at some of the world’s biggest festivals like Tomorrowland last weekend, where he made history by having the top two most-played tracks of the entire festival. His current discography is full of solid gold, including a Calvin Harris official remix, his “Metro” collaboration with Kevin de Vries, and three solo releases. His official remix Armand van Helden’s timeless “I Want Your Soul” is another perfect addition to the collection. 

Of the release, Mau P shared:

“Being told that the I Want Your Soul edit I made was going to become an official release was another pinch me moment. Armand van Helden is one of my all time heroes and I Want Your Soul is such a classic. I must’ve played it hundreds of times at house parties and even to this day it always hits the spot. I hope I did the track justice with my version, I guess we’ll find out soon enough.”

While staying true to the original’s distinctive sound, Mau P has delivered a thumping contemporary cut of “I Want Your Soul”. It’s no easy feat to remix a classic track like this, but of course, if anyone can do it, it’s Mau P. This revitalizing remix is undoubtedly another club-ready weapon and will soon become another one of Mau P’s instant hits found on every DJ’s playlist. Mau P is continuing to prove that he is at the forefront of this generation’s new wave of house music.
