YetepShrouded in mystery and speculation, yvm3 is an up-and-coming heavy hitter in a world where violent dubstep properly merges with death metal – there is something special about not truly knowing who is behind this project. An empty DJ booth, a dark creation poised just behind – simulating an alien woman – black lips moving, face hidden behind thick bangs. She does not fool us. She has escaped her Hell and is back on Earth to provide punishment.
“If it is power that you seek, only madness awaits you – if your misfortunes have led to this, I will not follow you into your Hell, after I have escaped mine.”
-yvm3, Summoning of the Eclipse intro – 2023
As we search for clues to the producers behind the insane sets yvm3 curates, there are constant redirections. Originally, the consensus was that Yakz, VOYD, and Marauda came together to concoct this onslaught of violence and punishment – Yakz has recently denounced being a member of yvm3, leaving a hole in yvm3 conspiracy theories held by bassheads around the country.
yvm3 has taken us on a journey – with first releases in 2022, lyrics begged for escape – for a Savior. In April 2023, the project debuted its first live set at Red Rocks at Valley of Darkness II, a now annual event headlined and organized by Svdden Death. Valley of Darkness II was yvm3’s entry back onto the plane of human existence.
“I screamed into this abyss, but my voice fell silent. I wept, but tears did not drip from my face. I pleaded for salvation, but my words echo back to me, hollow and empty. How long have I been here?”
-yvm3, Valley of Darkness II intro, 2023
This project is one we all deserve. A testament to the evolution of genres and the merging of music scenes – for metalheads looking for a soft launch into the world of dubstep, catching a yvm3 set is the way to go. Drama, theatrics, a classic “whodunit?” – setting up amateur music detectives to go on a journey of discovery that leads to no true end. yvm3 is here to stay, and we are here for every second of it.
