YetepWobble godfather SubDocta continues to put out quality releases and further expand his discography. His newest drop includes a pair of singles from an upcoming album, to be released through WAKAAN records. SubDocta is also scheduled for a Tempe tour stop at Mill Ave’s own Varsity Tavern. The event is on Saturday May 30th with tickets available through THIS LINK!
“Freaky Naughty” was the first single from the album to drop. It features a classic dubstep intro with icy sound notes. It dances the line between reggae/dub and dubstep very well, while featuring a slight horror twist. Grumbling bass lingers under the surface, waiting for the best moment to strike. Bass waves crash through the track’s walls with the help of a hype man. The first drop is brought in with a DnB-inspired break, featuring metallic spirals and intergalactic transmissions. The drop has that old-school dubstep sound that longtime fans will recognize immediately. Wubs briefly subside before we are thrust into the next drop. This drop swaps between more frequencies with effective transitions. “Freaky Naughty” ends with bass and laser fire.
The second single featured is called “Turnt” and features sfam and EJ THE MAKER b. “Turnt” features SAVAGE rap verses and deep caverns of bass. The verses capture the party lifestyle and confidence from talent and independence. Flashy instrumentals transform into a thick bass swamp with nasty wubs. “Turnt” features old school sounds belong in a dystopian/apocalyptic video game and dubstep’s prime era. The beat effectively switches between supporting the verses and taking center stage. This introduces a balance that is also formed with the tone of the vocals, bringing everything together in harmony.
