YetepAfrojack has spent years dominating festival main stages, but lately he’s been chasing something different. His new single “Control,” a collaboration with Dutch duo Lucas & Steve, finds the GRAMMY-winning producer fully embracing the underground house scene. Released last week through Chris Lake’s Black Book Records, it’s his first release on the label and a clear signal of where his sound is headed.
The track is clean, club-focused, and built for late-night rooms rather than stadium singalongs. It’s the sound Afrojack has been refining through his Kapuchon alias, which has already earned respect from artists like Swedish House Mafia, Anyma, and Dom Dolla. Dom Dolla actually gave the track its first major push, debuting it as an unreleased ID in front of 40,000 fans at Allianz Stadium. The moment went viral, and now the track is officially here.
The timing lined up perfectly with Ultra Music Festival, where Afrojack played a double set on Sunday: opening the mainstage with his Kapuchon set before returning later for a full Afrojack performance. It was a fitting showcase of an artist who’s proving he can move between worlds without losing his footing.
“Control” is out now, and for anyone who’s been watching Afrojack’s recent evolution, it feels like the start of something new.
