2024 Flashback: ‘Ignition’ by Levity

FRI, SEP 18, 2026

Levity is a trio out of Chicago, Illinois that has been making some SERIOUS headway in the scene in a short period of time. Their first original album, Escapism, Vol. 1, dropped on September 25th, 2024. Despite enjoying the big singles, Alleycvt collaboration “One For You” and breakout hit “Flip It”, I did not listen to the full album. Until recently! In fact, I enjoyed it so much that I am here to review a track that caught me off guard: “Ignition.”

“Ignition” is a mind-bending adventure that captures everything I love about EDM. It is a top contender when someone asks me to show them the style of electronic music I like. It has it all! The album’s introduction directly flows into “Ignition” creating hype and a smooth transition. The drops in this one have some serious heat! Speaker-melting bass rattles you from all sides. Each layer of these drops roll together like a helicopter in a tornado of sound. The frequencies are OUT OF CONTROL here. It is hard to impress me to this degree, but “Ignition” nails it. This is an insane driving song that will leave your passengers shook.

The smooth transitions do not end with the introduction to. “Ignition.” Samples, scratches and bass split the drops into numerous sections. “Ignition’s” first drop fades into an atmospheric bridge with extra melodic vocals. These atmospheric notes return later in the song. Levity’s producer tag brings in the final drop: “You will now experience LEVITY!” This drop slows things down a bit, and adds in some crunchy frog noises. The revving bass caves in and ends with a phone off the hook and narration provided by ProbCause. This leads into the next track. “Chill” which is ALSO a banger.

“Ignition” pushes Levity’s sound to new heights. It shows off their diverse catalogue and collaboration skills. This banger is a wild journey from start to finish. The quiet to loud transitions are done effectively, combining order with chaos. I had no idea that Levity could get this heavy, but I am here for it. Check out this bop ASAP.

“We ain’t ever coming down.”
