Caspa Enters New Era With ‘Translucent’
Few names in dubstep carry the same legacy as Caspa. He has returned from the studio with one of the dubstep albums of the year, Translucent. His newest album is another reminder of why his sound has remained so influential nearly two decades into his career.
Released via Ghost Town, the seven-track album brings together Caspa’s latest singles with the previously unreleased “The Gate.” Tracks like “Dollars,” “Fact Not Fiction,” “Let It Go,” and “Run That” lean into the gritty, stripped-back sound that has defined Caspa’s productions for years. Throughout the album, the heavy drums, gritty basslines, and intriguing vocals drive the energy through the room.
Caspa has been shaping dubstep since its early days, from his work with Rusko on the legendary FabricLive.37 mix to his influential Dub Police label, Caspa has done it all. Translucent doesn’t feel like a trip down memory lane, but a compilation of Caspa’s best work. Instead, Caspa takes the sound he helped build and gives it a fresh coat of paint, keeping things dark, direct, and built for the dance floor.
After nearly 20 years in the game, Translucent is another chapter in Caspa’s long-running story and a solid reminder that the OGs can still bring the heat.
