Relentless Beats

12 Loud Reasons to Catch 12th Planet, LOUDPVCK, and Kove @ BASSRUSH AZ

The Bassrush Takeover is taking to the road for the first time ever and will be making a stop at The Pressroom in Phoenix on June 13, 2015. 12TH Planet, LOUDPVCK, and Kove are looking to provide the Phoenicians with melodic drum and bass, grimy trap music, and face-melting dubstep. Just the mention of DnB, Trap, and Dubstep should be reason enough to drop what you’re doing and catch the nearest lightrail to the Pressroom, but if you’re not convinced, here are 12 reasons to skip out on your night in:

 1. LIKE THIS – PROTOHYPE & 12TH PLANET

This track is one of many collaborations between 12th Planet and Protohype. With a slow melodic opening, 12th Planet and Protohype draw us in and build anticipation. They catch our attention with a series of bass heavy kick drums all the while the synth becomes more intense. But everyone really comes for the drop, we all know that, and this one doesn’t disappoint. I would describe it, but I wouldn’t want to spoil anything… Anyway, the drop goes like this:

2. MYSTICA – BLASTERJAXX (LOUDPVCK REMIX)

I’m sure this is a track that many are familiar with, but that doesn’t make it any less enjoyable. This song has been playing out at festivals, nightclubs, and beach parties around the globe and it’s not difficult to understand why. LOUDPVCK has taken a great song and made it even better by incorporating that trap flair that they are so well known for. This is definitely one that is going to make you feel a little dirty thanks to its hollow synths and hard-hitting bass.

3. IODINE – KOVE

This is the track that got British DnB DJ Kove off to his fantastic start. Iodine was picked up by Andy C’s record label, Program Recordings, and the song was featured on his Mixmag mix record. It was all up hill from there for Kove. This song starts out with a haunting vocal hum in the background, which leads to an aggressive pick up of drums, bass, and mean rhythms.

4. BURNER – LOUDPVCK

An earlier track from the trap duo of Kenny Beats and Ryan Marks, Burner is one tune that highlights LOUDPVCK’s ability to create beats that will make crowds lose control of their minds and bodies. From beginning to end, Burner never lets up. This is one that is sure to make you very dizzy… in a good way.

5. SPILLY TALKER – 12TH PLANET, TROLLPHACE & JUJU FT. OMAR LINX

Another big 12th Planet collaboration, this one including the vocals of Omar Linx, satisfies that thirst for the marriage of mean rap lyrics and a hard dubstep drop. This is a relatively recent song from 12th Planet, so learn the lyrics and sing along on June 13th because you know you don’t want to be the only person out there whose not singing along!

 6. STILL HIGH – KOVE

After all of the high-energy drops, jumping, and fist pumping, you sometimes just need that moment of relaxation. With Still High off of his recently released Murmurations EP, Kove treats us with that moment. He entrances us with relaxing and mesmerizing drum lines and vocals. He provides the opportunity to get intimate with a dance partner… or hell, even with oneself if the former is lacking.

7. WYLIN’ – PAPER DIAMOND X LOUDPVCK

This is a huge collaboration between bass king, Paper Diamond and Bassrush’s own, LOUDPVCK. The song builds with high-pitched synths and a solid baseline, leading to a crescendo of one ground-pounding bass drop. As commenter, KaiworkmaN, states: it’s “better than a double decker taco”!

8. FEEL LOVE AGAIN – KOVE X DIMENSION

Following his slower song, Still High, on Murmurations, Kove provides us with a high-energy drum and bass tune that relies on its vocals to take us on a mesmerizing journey into musical bliss. It is a song with sharp, quick synths and vocals that mirror the urgency of it’s rhythm. This is one that is sure to start the bodies moving and ensure that they don’t stop until it reaches its end.

9. NEEDED CHANGE – SKRILLEX FT. 12TH PLANET

Although the song is “ft. 12th Planet”, his influence and contribution to “Needed Change” is certainly prominent. This song is a classic dubstep collaboration between the Skrillex and 12th Planet and provides listeners with a solid and quite pleasant intro speaking of the need for change. And, oh boy, does the melody change! Hear it for yourself:

10. LOST YOU – ZEDS DEAD FT. TWIN SHADOW & D’ANGELO LACY (KOVE REMIX)

“Lost You” is the last Kove song on the list and the first remix from Kove. What is special about this song in regards to Kove is that he changes up his style a bit here. We are used to the DnB superstar lending fast-paced drum lines and vivacious chords, but with this one he shows that he has a bit of house music up his sleeve as well. The 90’s piano sound evokes a groovy desire to snap your fingers and sway your hips from side to side. But… just because it’s different, don’t even think for a second that the bass is lacking.

11. BACON PSALM – 12TH PLANET & PROTOHYPE

A silly name, yes, but “Bacon Psalm” is not playing around. Right off the bat, our ears are graced with a deafening bass line that immediately pulls us into the whirlpool of musical pleasure. This song is pure dubstep, and isn’t that what anyone wants? Sometimes you just need that simplicity, and this song provides all of the raw, dirty, bone-shattering wubbing that any dubstep fan wants. Ladies and gentlemen, introducing: “Bacon Psalm”.

 12. FREAKS HAVE MORE FUN – DADA LIFE (LOUDPVCK REMIX)

And finally we get ugly with LOUDPVCK’s remix of the Dada Life hit, “Freaks Have More Fun”. And what better way to end it? On June 13th everyone needs to arrive beautiful and leave ugly, and LOUDPVCK will be the ones to ensure that it happens. This remix is one of those that will likely go down in the history books as one that was better than the original. If not, one thing is certain: the bass is in full supply!

So there you have it! This is going to be a night you don’t want to miss. Bassrush Takeover is coming to Phoenix and you better be there. The bass is fully loaded and ready to launch come June 13th. Let’s just hope that the walls of the Pressroom survive to see another show!
