March 17, 2017
It’s that time of year again for all ghosts, goblins, and witches to come out in honor of Halloween, and Talking Stick Resort will be holding it’s second Wicked Ball on Saturday the 29th. With live edm entertainment from Benny Benassi and Cash Cash, a costume contest worth ten thousand dollars, and lot’s more, the Wicked Ball is going to be the place to be to celebrate the spooky holiday this year.
The Halloween bash will feature three rooms complete with cocktail specials and variety acts. Each room will showcase a different theme, vibe and musical style so guests will get to experience three parties for the price of one! Lady La from LIVE 101.5 will keep the party rocking in the main room, serving as the costume contest’s host. The top 10 costume contest finalists will take home cash with the 6th-10th place winners taking home $200, 5th place $500, 4th place $1,000, 3rd place $1,500, 2nd place $2,500, and 1st place with $3,500.
With that much money at stake the pressure is on to arrive with a killer costume. Although theres thousands of people/things you can choose from to pretend to be for a night, and creativity may be to your advantage, let’s take a look at what costumes are trending this year.
As you may have guessed, the most popular costume of 2016 happens to be Suicide Squad’s very own Harley Quinn. With Suicide Squad being the most anticipated movie of the year its no surprise that Harley has become such a popular costume. You can find her outfit and wig with her blue and red ponytails at most halloween or costume stores near you.
Donald Trump & Hillary Clinton
Secondly, there’s no way that people wouldn’t dress up as Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton with this years election. Wether you’re a supporter, or a hater, giant masks for each of the two presidential candidates are also available at your local costume shop, and I must say they’re hilarious.
Also from the Suicide Squad, The Joker has claimed it spot as one of 2016’s most popular costumes as well. This one can be put together pretty easily, as you just need some green hair dye, white, red, and black face paint, and a purple coat or jacket, and you’re good to go.
With this years outrageous pokemon go takeover, of course pokemon costumes are going on the list. Whether you dress up as Pickachu, Charizard, a pokeball, or a pokemon trainer, you’ll be fitting in perfectly. If you take the pokemon route with your costume this year, you’ll be sure to catch em’ all. Candy and cash that is.
Snapchat Dog Filter
Last but certainly not least on my list of hottest costumes this year is the famous dog snapchat filter. As soon as snapchat’s filters were released, the dog filter instantly became a hit, especially for white girls some might say. This costume can be made right at home with a few simple steps explained in the video below.
Good luck to everyone participating in the contest, we’ll see you this Saturday at Scottsdale’s Hottest Halloween Party, Wicked Ball!
