Relentless Beats

Don’t Sleep on Hi I’m Ghost, Their ‘Slumber Party’ is Dope

A little over a month ago, Hi I’m Ghost dropped an EP that demands to be heard. See, Hi I’m Ghost aren’t just dropping headbanging tracks, the duo of Tiago Nunez and Nathan Davis are trying to craft something similar to classical masterpieces. On their latest release Slumber Party, which came out in October, Hi I’m Ghost delivers a kaleidoscope 4-track symphony of sounds, rhythms, and feelings.

Take for instance the aptly titled “Boi,” which starts out with the sounds and rhythms of a lit Jamaican beach party and then transitions into a full-on dubstep extravaganza before mellowing out again with some smooth horns and bass-riddim. The layers upon layers are present in every track. The opener “Dub Fuego” opens with hand claps and then drops into an unrelenting onslaught of bass, samples, synths, and oh, did I mention bass? Don’t worry you’ll get a brief moment to catch your breath before the bass and wobble-wobble returns. “Pray for Me” and “Uh-Oh” are equally impressive as both round out a very solid effort for Hi I’m Ghost.

The duo of Tiago, a graduate of the Conservatory of Recording Arts, and Nathan, a lifelong musician, are gaining traction in the bass scene and have been shown love by Datsik, Dirtyphonics, R3HAB, and Krewella. You’ll have your chance to show some love also on November 25 when they open for Arius and Tynan at the Monarch Theatre. Stop sleeping and click the link to get tickets.
