YetepYes, you read that right. Following in the steps of other celebrity DJs will.i.am and Pauly D among others, Paris Hilton, the self-proclaimed Queen of Dance, announced her official DJ debut and will be begin work on her DJ career. Rumors have been circling for some time now that the Party Princess had an unusual and sudden interest in dance music after sightings at festivals in the US and abroad in addition to her current relationship with Afrojack. After reports that Hilton was receiving lessons from the Dutch superstar, speculation seemed to cease after it turned out (more appropriately) that she was just following him from gig to gig.
I know everyone is dying to know when and where she’s been booked. Unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately), she’s only announced one date but promises that more (gasp!) are on the way. Paris Hilton’s debut performance will be at the Pop Music Festival in Sao Paulo, Brazil on June 23. The festival itself is exactly what the name implies, a pop music festival. Hilton’s DJ set will follow performances by Jennifer Lopez and Kelly Clarkson.
“I cannot wait to DJ for the first time in front of thousands of people,” Hilton said. “I have been a part of the music scene and club scene since I was 15. It’s something I have been passionate about and have come to respect very much. I am very excited to share all of my hard work with the world.”
This isn’t the heiress’s first foray into dance music. You may recall that she released a dance-ish pop album entitled “Paris” in 2006. Late last year she also released “Drunk Text” produced by Manufactured Superstars. Another album is reportedly on the way. Maybe some of the tracks will be alright if they’re produced by Afrojack and released on Wall Recordings without Hilton’s voice…. maybe.
