YetepAnother “young gun” making a big debut, Clockwork’s latest EP “Surge” is out today and it’s got some great sounds.
At 22 years old the LA Native, now living in New York City, made the internet rounds at only 18 with bootlegs that got passed around the underground depth of the internet music scene. He made huge strides with the help of Felix Cartal and AutoErotique, and after his first original track “Squad Up” got the attention of big names like Steve Aoki he was signed to Dim Mak.
This new EP has some funky sounds and some dirty beats. The first track, “Surge”, opens up with a very extra-terrestrial reverb and synth, followed by some perfectly matched up vocals. The build-up takes you to a drop that has a very moombah-esque feel to the drums and bassline. It all drops down into another synth filled far-out breakdown, only to come full circle into that dirty drum beat.
The second track, “Tremor”, spares no time getting into the nitty gritty with super grungy basslines and that oh-so-familiar big room siren we know is going to lead to a big drop. But, it tricks you into falling into a breakdown. A synthesized orchestra takes control for just a bit until you start to feel that banging build-up lead you right back to the grunge and bump that makes this track a serious banger.
Check out Clockwork’s new EP Surge and be on the lookout for more info on Clockwork this year.
