YetepWith all this talk lately about equality in the media I thought it would be fitting to share my thoughts on equality within the EDM community.
Dance music has always been the type of music to bring together all walks of life regardless of gender, race, culture background, more then any other genre in music today. Shared by a common bond for the love of the music, EDM has brought together what outsiders would look at as odd. What’s great about EDM is its ability to resonate with people no matter what their background.
Attend any EDM event and marvel at the melting pot of fans all dancing to the same beat. Here you will find no segregation, no bad looks, no finger pointing, but just equality. United by the music, shared by the world, can this be the answer to world peace we have been looking for?
Listen to the lyrics of many of today’s top producers such as Armin van Buuren, Markus Schulz, and Gareth Emrey and you will hear the message of love and peace. As a DJ the ability to share this message with the masses and across borders around the world is a wonderful thing. I like to think of DJs as the modern day ambassadors of peace. Pretty cool if you ask me.
So do your part and spread the love. Next time you attend an event make sure to make friends will your fellow fans. We can all do our part with helping the EDM scene spread the message of equality. That’s what is so great about this music!
