Porter Robinson – The Language Tour 2012 Mini Documentary

The documentary is interesting to watch for many reasons. First, it shows fans the work and time invested in executing a successful tour. For example, The M Machine reveal themselves as roadies. The guys, Ben Swardlick, Eric Luttrell and Andy Coenen, left the stage each night after their set only to return as hooded roadies to break it down. Secondly, the documentary features the Robinson clan. “He would basically get super interested in something and then you just didn’t know where it was going to wind up,” said Pappa Robinson, Nick Robinson, about his son’s personality.  The most interesting part of the documentary is watching the chart topping single, “Easy” being produced during the tour. Mat Zo and Robinson are seen working in a small studio set-up in the back of their bus.

From setting up to tearing down, director Justin Nizer captures the hectic lives of those involved in the tour. Documentaries like this one are always exciting to watch because it shows DJs’ skills and commitment, which are questioned by critics.
