YetepThe first time I saw Kove, I didn’t even know who he was, but this guy I had met at the music festival told me he was a “must see,” and boy was he right! He had me upon his shoulders, getting crazy to that infectious DnB throughout his entire set. This was at Nocturnal Wonderland last year, and I have been itching to see him again ever since. After seeing his drum & bass set, I started listening to Kove’s Soundcloud, which shows he is much more versatile than just strictly being a DnB producer. “Love for You” and the following years release, “Way We Are” are both rhythmically satisfying pieces of house released by the artist; both of which I cannot get enough of and are perfect for summertime dance floors.
Otherwise known as James Rockhill, the DJ/producer was picked up by Chase & Status’ record label MTA Records in 2013, and has been rising to fame ever since. He has already made some great remixes of songs by Bastille, John Newman and Foxes. His remix of “Holding Onto Heaven” by Foxes is a personal favorite of mine; you can check it out on his Soundcloud here:
His versatility as a producer stems from the fact that he loves just making music that excites him. When asked where he will be taking his sound next he had responded:
“I’m really just making anything at the moment. I’m in a real House vibe at the moment, music that I’m hearing a lot of that excites me. I’ll definitely be dipping back into the fast stuff though, it’s what I made my name in and I still love it.” – Kove
You can catch Kove alongside 12th Planet and Loudpvck for Bassrush at the Monarch Theatre this Saturday, June 13th, but in the meantime you can listen to his Bassrush Takeover Mix right here:
