Fresh off of EDC Weekend, we have got a killer line-up of events coming to you this weekend starting with the return of a classic series, UK Thursdays, at the Monarch, followed by a taste of RBDeep, and a teaser of what’s to come later next month at Trapfest. Whether its Trap, Dubstep, or something a little deeper that you’re yearning for this weekend, we have it all coming your way!
Take A Trip Overseas with Doctor P and FuntCase at UK Thursdays (6/25 9pm)
The always popular UK Thursdays makes it’s return to Monarch Theatre this Thursday night with Circus Record’s head, Doctor P. Alongside him comes fellow label member, FuntCase, who together will be reminding us all what it feels like to have that filthy British bass resonate through each of our limbs. This event will mark the first show under the UK Thursdays title since Yellow Claw turned it up back in November. The conclusion of this brief hiatus is extremely welcomed as we have been patiently waiting for Shaun Brockhurst aka Doctor P to show us that his triple threat status is no joke. The musician, producer, and DJ got his start making beats off of a Yamaha keyboard and his Playstation, but now he’s innovating on equipment much more suitable and much more deafening. This pioneer of the genre will ensure that we hear Dubstep the way it was meant to be heard. Let’s go gorillas!
Similarly, FuntCase, with his crazy mask and all, hot off of his b2b set at EDC alongside Cookie Monsta, is ready and raring to share his leftover energy from the massive festival. Impossible to shake a buzz like that, you can expect FuntCase to throw down an unbelievable set to rival all other UK Thursdays alumni. Just make sure you don’t lose your hearing before Doctor P comes out!
It’s The Last Night On Earth with Sasha at RB Deep (6/27 9pm)
Another DJ getting right off of the EDC train is the world-renowned Sasha, who will be bringing his extended set to Arizona this Saturday night alongside our very own Turner & Heit. Sasha has been a staple in the industry since his days working with Acid House back in the 1980s alongside John Digweed and Paul Oakenfold. Since then he has evolved immensely, even pioneering the movement from turntables and records to audio engineering software. He has taken up residency in a number of clubs around the world including the world-famous Space in Ibiza where he has showcased the likes of Scuba, Catz & Dogz, Magda, and of course himself. Now he runs his current tour alongside his label, The Last Night On Earth. Sasha has said about his upcoming year: “We have some really exciting things planned for 2015, some great releases and I will be collaborating with some very talented artists we have championed.” I can attest, after catching him at a surprise visit to The LIGHT Nightclub in Las Vegas this weekend alongside Disclosure, Sasha has quite the exciting show for you all this weekend.
On the Road to Trapfest with Lookas at BRKFST @ Nite (6/27 9pm)
I’m sure you’re all familiar with the track “Tsunami” by Borgeous and DVBBS, right? Well have you heard the Lookas remix? Listen to it… now. The song attained over a half a million views in less than three months and provides the wildly popular track with an even dirtier drop that goes perfectly with the Trapfest name. In addition, Ministry of Sound, you know that really big deal of a club in the UK, they made it an official mix in 2014. The festival sounding trap of his remix really resonated, and Lookas benefited greatly. Following the success of this incredible remix, Lookas has been on the fast track to international stardom receiving support from Tiesto, Skrillex, Adventure Club, Borgore, Chainsmokers, Blasterjaxx, and even Billboard magazine who called him “the next big sound”. Check out some of his original work via his Soundcloud page, or you could just make your way over to BRKFST this Saturday where he will be giving you a preview of what is to come in July at Trapfest!
We’ll see you out there when the British invade Phoenix this weekend!
