RB Weekend Preview: You & Me & Flume

The weekend begins early this week thanks to Relentless Beats and HARD with the one and only, Flume, making his Arizona debut this Thursday at The Pressroom. Despite this being the only event being held this weekend, expect it to be the party of the summer. The Australian native is one of the most sought after talents in the business, being courted for festivals like Electric Daisy Carnival, Electric Forest, Dour Festival in Belgium, and Lovebox in the UK.

The acclaimed producer recently released his first original piece in a long while; creating many fantastic remixes in between. Learn more about the haunting new track, “Some Minds”, created alongside Andrew Wyatt, HERE. Also, speaking of his remixes, Flume blew up with his remix of the song “You & Me” by Disclosure. The song is representative of his experimental sound with Australian cohort, Emoh Instead, as What So Not.

Flume’s recent departure from What So Not is tragedy for fans of their unrivaled funky trap sound, however it will allow for the two artists to find new voices in the industry. The duo still has one more release coming out together entitled Gemini, which can be previewed HERE. What So Not, a.k.a. Emoh Instead will be making his way to Phoenix as well in September with the Mad Decent Block Party.

The show this Thursday is being put on with the partnership of HARD Events, which would explain why the show sold out so quickly. HARD Events, founded by Gary Richard or Destructo, is currently in the middle of their GO HARD tour, which has made stops in Miami, San Francisco, Toronto, and many others. Similarly, HARD Summer will be making its way to the Fairplex in Pomona, California. Check out this story about some of the charitable work that HARD has going on involving spoons!

And finally, if you can’t find a way into the sold out Flume show this weekend maybe you can find a way into the sold out EDC this weekend. This is the 19th annual Electric Daisy Carnival, which originated in Los Angeles and made its way to Las Vegas in 2011. Stay tuned for our coverage of EDMbiz and EDC Week all week long!
