Soulwax Funk Up Tame Impala Single, ‘Let It Happen’

The Belgian dance-rockers Soulwax have emerged from their musical hibernation of sorts to provide us with this funk-infused spin on Tame Impala’s lead single from their latest album, Currents. In taking the seven minute-plus original song and tacking on an extra two minutes, they’ve somehow improved upon the already expansive, journeying tune. Soulwax beefed up the funkier elements, threw in a grooving, chugging bass line and layered some trippy effects onto Kevin Parker’s voice to achieve this unexpectedly funktastic  disco-psych house jam.

Tame Impala has always been one of my favorite bands, so anytime someone takes a stab at remixing them, I take notice. As far as Tame Impala remixes go, Soulwax just took the cake… then ate it, promptly inviting us all out to their Belgian roller-disco party while they grooved out to this song on repeat. Or something like that.
